About The Old Man of Storr

The Old Man of Storr is one of the most famous walks on the Isle of Skye. The "Old Man" itself is a large rock that stands high above the surrounding area and can be seen for miles around. The hike is part of the Trotternish loop and was created by a massive ancient landslide and much erosion. The Storr walking trail is an out-and-back gravel pathway, but provides a medium challenge given that most of the walk is uphill (some of which involve minor scrambling). It's a beautiful walk in most weather conditions, but the carpark is fairly small and fills up quickly.

Getting There

Drive north on A855 from Portree, Scotland for approx. 6.8 miles. There is a small carpark on the left (west) side of the road. The trailhead is on the north side of the carpark.
